Letter: Computer servers are replacing farmland

Land O'Goshen is a Southern expression of amazement or frustration.
This expression is applicable to the land grab of Facebook, Microsoft, and now probably Apple in Iowa. There was a time we had pride in feeding the world. Now with amazement and frustration we have deeded thousands of acres of Iowa farm land to massive barns full of computer servers. These solitary creatures feed on water and electricity. Do we need to store digits that sit and hum?
This is reminiscent of early settlers pushing the Indians west to satisfy their agricultural appetite. Now it's computer servers storing everything that was ever done and said that replaces the good earth's productive cycle.
Land O'Goshen, what are we to do?
