Betty Lou Grace, 82, of Highland Ridge, Williamsburg, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017.
Betty Lou Small was born March 1, 1935, the daughter of Lester and Blanche (Graham) Small. After high school, she served two years in Texas serving in the Army's Women's Army Corps. After the military, she worked for six years at the Iowa City VAMC, where she would meet her husband, John "Bill" Grace. They were married June 6, 1959, at Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin. Betty worked for several years on her family's farm and then as their children entered high school, took a job at ACT.
Betty loved time spent with her family, which always included her pets, mushroom hunting, antiquing, attending annual balloon festivals, family Christmas vacations to Hawaii and fall trips to delight in the Wisconsin foliage. She will be remembered for her incredible sense of humor and her strong faith.
Her family includes her childen, John Grace (Tina) of Tiffin and Elizabeth Litwiller (Mike) of Parnell; sister, Joan Miller (Paul) of Wellman; grandchildren, Alyssa Tjader (Fredrik) of Coralville, Grace Litwiller and Zachary Litwiller; as well as a dear niece, Chris Brown of Lisbon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John "Bill" and sister, Donna Hudson.
A memorial service for Betty and John will be held at a later date. Memorials in her name may be made to the Safe Haven Animal Shelter in care of Solon State Bank. Memories and online condolences may be shared with her family at www.gayandciha.com.
