You had your chance and blew it

Everyone is all upset about the negative outcome of the state gaming commission deliberations. A perfect example of counting chickens before the eggs came: the investors bought some of the land and started demolition, got everyone fired up, even though it was understood it would be months before a decision would be forthcoming. All this effort down the drain. Now everyone is mad at Riverside for sinking our dreams. The word is boycott Riverside, that will make Tama and Waterloo happy.
Now the mayor says the commission should have let the investors know sooner what the outcome was going to be. Ridiculous.
Think back several years, there was a proposal to build a riverboat casino. Everyone raised a fuss, including The Gazette, didn't want all the problems a casino would bring, crime, gang activities, criminal element, etc. Waterloo and Riverside weren't in the picture, but it was rejected. That was when we needed all the hype and hoopla, now it's too late.
The county lost, the city lost and all the jobs were lost; the only one who made out was Zinser company; every truckload of trash was a truckload of money.
