CEDAR RAPIDS - Linn County residents interested in submitting a new design for the county logo have less than two weeks to turn in their artwork.
Joi Alexander, Linn County communications director, said as of Thursday, seven submissions had been received for the Linn County logo redesign challenge, which aims to replace the county's roughly 20-year-old logo. Interested individuals have until 5 p.m. Nov. 15 to make submissions.
Linn County's logo - hills, trees and a river with the Cedar Rapids skyline in the background - has been used by the county since the 1990s.
The chosen artist or company will receive $2,500 in compensation, and the new logo can be easily placed on letterhead and on county vehicles during transitions to new fleet vehicles.
An information packet can be downloaded at the Linn County website - linncounty.org/LogoRedesign. Designs can be submitted online or by email.
The county is looking for a companion county seal that incorporates the year 1839, the year the county was established.
The final design will be selected in early 2018.
