Former governor Culver forms new energy firm
Former Iowa Gov. Chet Culver is turning his work building the state's renewable energy industry into a consulting firm.
Culver, who lost his bid for re-election last fall, tells The Des Moines Register that he sees his company providing small businesses a less expensive way to generate renewable energy.
Culver is past chairman of the Governor's Wind Energy Coalition and Governors Biofuels Coalition.
He says he considered several options after losing the election but decided on creating the group because it will give him flexibility to do many things. His consulting business will focus on marketing, business development, public policy work and advocacy.
He is the group's only member but other partners are expected to join.
