To the editor:
Regarding the May 26 letter 'C.R. city parks full of weeds, swamps”:
I can only speak regarding the Huntington Ridge Park.
The 'swamps” the letter writer referred to and the 'unsightly weeds” are part of a well-planned, well-executed drainage system addressing the housing growth west of C Avenue. The 'swamp” and 'weeds” control the development's water runoff, keeping C Avenue from flooding as well as controlling the speed and depth of the runoff that flows under C Avenue and then through the backyards of the residents on the south side of Hampshire Drive NE. This flow eventually ends up in Indian Creek.
The Cedar Rapids streets department along with the parks department have done an excellent job of protecting C Avenue as well as our homes.
