Letter: Traveler upset with CR traffic cameras

As a result of the Interstate 380 speed trap at J Avenue, I have spent my last dollar in Cedar Rapids.
I wrote three checks for $225 for three speeding tickets at that location, two of which were received 30 minutes apart. My wife was in town for a soccer tournament and was unaware of the speed trap. Had she known that she was getting a speeding ticket at this location by an actual officer she would have slowed down the next time she drove through there.
Treating out-of-town visitors like this is a very poor reflection on your city. As a result of these tickets I instructed our soccer association to remove Cedar Rapids tournaments from further consideration. Our team spent close to $7,000 on local hotels and restaurants while attending the tournament and those dollars certainly won't ever be coming back for another tournament.
Does anyone in Cedar Rapids know what is the real cost to fleece out-of-town travelers on Interstate 380?
