Sandra Sue Flockhart Proesch, 66, formerly of Stanwood, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at 1 a.m. in St. Luke's hospice care unit, Cedar Rapids, from complications of a stroke and pneumonia. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will follow in Stanwood Cemetery.

Sandra was born March 6, 1950, in the same hospital where she died, the daughter of Robert and Darlene Coppess Flockhart. Sandra graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1968. In 1971, she was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Proesch; they later divorced. Sandra was diagnosed in 1983 with multiple sclerosis so physical work became difficult. She loved to crochet, latch hook, plastic canvas and cross stitch and shared her talents with many family and friends. She loved her flowers, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and dogs.

Sandra is survived by her son, Craig A. Proesch, Cedar Rapids; her grandsons, Codi and Colton Proesch of Cedar Rapids; her mother, Darlene Flockhart of Stanwood; sisters, Marcia (Harry) Driscoll of Mechanicsville, Joyce (Bob) Simmermaker of Clarence and Dianna (Dennis) Hodgden of Tipton; and her brothers, Bob (Marie) Flockhart of Tipton, Rick (Cindy) Flockhart of Stanwood and Steve (Tami) Flockhart of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert R. Flockhart, on Jan. 16, 2017.

A general memorial fund has been established in her memory.
