Iowa loses another from 2017 recruiting class
Nov. 18, 2016 1:26 pm
The decommitments have continued.
After Iowa lost verbal commits Eno Benjamin and Chevin Calloway within the last month, the Hawkeyes (6-4, 4-3 Big Ten) lost another from their 2017 recruiting class on Friday in two-star Georgetown, Texas, wide receiver Beau Corrales.
Like Benjamin and Calloway, Corrales took to Twitter on Friday, posting a long message to his account detailing his decision to decommit after quickly making a verbal to his first Power 5 conference offer. Corrales had committed to Texas State last summer before decommitting from the Bobcats when his offer came in from Coach Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa staff.
'Iowa was my first power 5 offer and I feel as if I chose them too quickly out of excitement without giving myself time to truly think through such a big decision as this,' Corrales wrote on Twitter. 'I just want the opportunity to explore all of the options out there for me before I make such a big decision.
'I love the University and the unconditional support the fans give, but I feel it would be unfair to the program if I wasn't '100% in.'
Corrales, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound receiver, is the fourth player from the 2017 recruiting class to decommit in total, with former North Fayette Valley defensive tackle Juan Harris pulling his commitment earlier this year.
Corrales currently has offers from Indiana, Army, Air Force and New Mexico, with reported interest from Kansas, Texas Tech and Wisconsin, according to 247Sports.
Iowa's 2017 recruiting class now stands at 14 hard commitments.
