Shimanek, Louis Edwin
Louis Edwin Shimanek, 80, of Nevis, Minn., formerly of Cedar Rapids and Monmouth, died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minn. A celebration of Louis' life will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, where visitation will be before the service from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.
Louis Edwin Shimanek was born June 6, 1933, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Ed and Christina (Zak) Shimanek. He had a 31-year career with Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, where he worked as a final test technician, retiring in 1988.
