Waters, Kenny
Kenny Waters, 51, passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at his home after a battle with cancer.
Kenny was born Jan. 13, 1962, in Cedar Rapids. He was raised in Marion and graduated in 1980 from Marion High School, where he excelled in football and wrestling. When he was growing up, the family had a cabin at Guttenberg on the Mississippi River where he fell in love with being on the river. This led to a career in deep sea diving in the Boston area, where he lived the last 25 years.
One of his projects he was proud of included building the under water highway in the Boston Harbor.
Kenny was a man who never had a bad word to say about anyone. He always had a smile on his face. Anyone who met him, never forgot him. He had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed by all of us.
He is survived by his wife, Gretchen of Somerset, Mass.; brother, Bruce; sisters, Karen and Marlene; nephews, Hollis and Natalie Weber and Miles and Ida Weber; great-nephew, Calvin Weber; brothers-in-law, Ted Weber and George Wells; and aunts and uncles, Barb and Keith Rowley and Louis and Mary McEnroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dixie (Joan) and Irving Clyde; his grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.
There will be a memorial service in Marion at a later time.
Arrangements by Hamel Funeral Care and The Cremation Service of Massachusetts.
