Joseph S. Weber, 75, of Dyersville, died Monday, July 14, 2014, at his home surrounded by family. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave. SW, Dyersville, where a vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 18, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Dole will officiate.
Joe was born Oct. 17, 1938, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Alphonse and Marcella (Langel) Weber. He married Elaine Gudenkauf on May 26, 1962, in Worthington. Together they farmed near Dyersville for 30 years, until retiring in Dyersville in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine; four children, Deanne (Paul) Gieser of St. Paul, Minn., Cathy Long of Cedar, Philip (Janet) Weber of Norwalk and Patrick (Caryn) Weber of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren, Adam, Sydney and Jake Long and Rachel and Morgan Weber; his mother, Marcella Steger of Dyersville; and four siblings, Arthur (Joan) Weber, Kay (Bill) Recker, Lois (Kenneth) Bries and Gerald (Jan) Weber, all of Dyersville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alphonse; his stepfather, Edmund "Skinny" Steger; and two nephews in infancy.
