Raymond Louis Deskin, 55, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, May 15, 2015. A Celebration of Life service will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Manhattan Pavillion, Ellis Park. All friends and family are invited to join. Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids is handling arrangements.
Raymond was born May 27, 1959, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Keith Allen and Rayma Willette (Sult) Deskin. Ray was employed as a truck driver for a total of 30 years. He married Kelly Brewer on Dec. 22, 1978; they later divorced. He married Colleen Collins on April 26, 2015. Ray enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, hunting, singing karaoke, driving, studying the trucking industry and spending time with his family.
Ray is survived by his wife, Colleen; his children, Tome (Mark) McMurray, Tia Clark and Trisha Ritter; stepchildren, Chuck Merkle (Sarah), December (Jon) Downer, September (Dustin) Conner and Jerry "Bear" Diveley (Megan); 21 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Mike (Laura) Deskin of Claremore, Okla., Lyle Deskin of Vidor, Texas, Terry Deskin of Plano, Texas, and Steve Deskin of Dallas, Texas; sister, Wendy "Ranae" Drahos of North Liberty; along with multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughters, Tara and Tanja; and his brother-in-law, Gil Drahos.
