Mow ditches, beautify our area

Driving around the Cedar Rapids, Solon and Ely area, I was disgusted with our ditches along the road.
Iowa should be ashamed how they look. Drive to other states and the roads look neat.
Why is it we cannot mow our ditches? Our ditches are overgrown with weeds and thistles. If a homeowner tries to mow their ditch, they are told to stay out. That is the county's job. So, why are they not doing their job?
A farmer cannot have all the thistles on their ground or they are in trouble with the weed commissioner.
Come on, Iowa - make our state look neater and mow the ditches.
