Rettig finds the pathways forward

In 1983, when I first met Janelle, she was a freshman in college. She was in the midst of helping with a fundraising drive for a high school classmate who needed a heart transplant. Janelle was one of the people who organized events throughout the region to raise funds. I had never seen anyone so devoted, organized, determined, and caring.

That sense of caring and devotion to helping others has not wavered over the past 35 years. I see it in the work she does on the Johnson County Board of Supervisors, but I also see it in the little things she does day to day to help people.

When Janelle sees something that needs to be done, she simply does it. She doesn't contemplate how or why something can't be done; she sees the paths by which something can be accomplished. Two of my favorite examples are her co-chairing the successful Land, Water and Future Conservation Bond initiative, and her fight for LGBTQ equal rights and marriage equality.

As her spouse I know I am biased in many ways, but one has to acknowledge that Janelle has a long, proven record of fighting for people's rights, and helping insure our environment is protected.

As a supervisor, Janelle has continued to fight for people's rights and the environment. Please join me in voting for Janelle Rettig on or before June 5.
