Letter: Better signage on I-380 is needed

A lot of people have expressed their views about the speed cameras on the Interstate 380 'S” curves. We agree that the speed limit is the speed limit and should be obeyed.
After years of using Interstate 380 it must be noted that the local county drivers know where the cameras are located so they drop their speed until clearing them and then back up to 65+ as well as darting in and out of traffic and tailgating slower vehicles.
What is my point? We, through the latest buzz GO Cedar Rapids, want to encourage more visitors to our fair city, but the out-of-staters we'd like to attract are the ones who are getting the greater number of tickets. So, we want out-of-staters to visit, stay and enjoy our city as well as support our vendors, but through the speed cameras we are not giving them a memorable welcoming. Instead they return to their homes and after receiving the ticket in the mail they surely aren't likely to laud our city.
With the majority of the tickets to out-of-staters on Interstate 380, signage improvement may be what is really needed.
