Betty Beatrice Gallagher, 73, of Shueyville, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Colonial Manor Care Center in Amana. Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. She will be laid to rest in Shueyville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, at Brosh Chapel.
Betty was born Nov. 14, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Charles D. and Beatrice (Kitzberger) Pulkrab. She graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Class of 1960. Betty was united in marriage to Jack Gallagher on June 25, 1960, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Betty worked at Square D for over 37 years, retiring in 2005.
She was a member of Union Teamsters Local 238 and was IBT president, SOKOL, National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, Guild of the NCSML, CSA, Damska Matice, Czech Heritage and Czech National Cemetery board.
Betty loved to travel, read and volunteer. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends.
Betty is survived by her children, Bradley Gallagher, Diana (Kenton Fetter) Gallagher, Christine (David) Curfman, all of Cedar Rapids, and Suzanne (Mabry) Long of Atkins; grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Greve, Keri (Denny Zimmerman) Long, Jordan (Nichole) Gallagher and Allison "Little Girl" Gallagher; great-grandchildren, Brock Crane, Gracie Greve and Jackson Gallagher; her brother, Don (Barb) Pulkrab of Fairfax; as well as her nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
