Byers, Louisa M. 'Mary'
Louisa M. “Mary” Byers, 100, of Olin, Iowa, died Monday, July 8 2013, at Jones County Regional Hospital in Anamosa. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 12, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Olin. Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin, Iowa. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in Anamosa.
Louisa was born July 29, 1912, in Center Junction, Iowa, to Mino and Sophia (Dirks) Zimmerman. She spent her formative years attending Olin School. Louisa married Marion Byers in Anamosa on Jan. 18, 1931.
She had lived in Olin, Iowa, her whole life where she and her husband raised one daughter, Patty. Louisa was a committed housewife who loved arts and crafts and taking care of elderly people.
Louisa is survived by one daughter, Patty (Richard) Sanborn of Olin; two grandchildren, Marla (Mike) Harter of Fairbank and Brian (Janet) Sanborn of Anamosa; four great-grandchildren, Andy (Jeni) Harter and family of Sigourney, Ryan (Sarah) Harter and family of Denver, Colo., Kayla Sanborn of Ames and Nicole Sanborn of Anamosa; one sister; Elnora Paulson of Monticello; and one brother, John Zimmerman of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters and four brothers.
