Kathryn Zimmerman, 99, of Belle Plaine, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016, at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Belle Plaine with Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Kathryn Zimmerman was born May 15, 1917, in Belle Plaine, to Edward and Josephine (Homolar) Tehan. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1935. She attended Waterloo School of Beauty after graduation, and worked at Milady's Beauty Shop in Belle Plaine for many years. She later opened her own beauty shop and worked there until her marriage. She married Sam Zimmerman on Dec. 29, 1944, in Belle Plaine. They lived in Belle Plaine all their lives. After Sam died, she stayed in the family home until 2013, when she moved to Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. She and Sam had two children, Sam Jr. and Danny. She worked at Rexall Drug Store and Clear's Department Store in Belle Plaine, but was primarily a housewife and mother.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, a card club, NARVE, a proud lifelong member of Western Bohemian Fraternal Association, and a member of American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, Dan Sr. (Sherrie) Zimmerman of Tama; daughter-in-law, Pam Zimmerman of Gilbert, Ariz.; grandchildren, Dan Jr. (Chelsy) Zimmerman of West Des Moines and Amanda (Alex) Lombardi of Gilbert; and four great-grandchildren, Emersyn and Logan Lombardi, Kieran Dahms and Bree Zimmerman; along with many nieces and nephews.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Sam Jr.; and siblings, Carl Tehan, Albia Wandling and Pauline Suchy.
