Birtcher, Katie (Kathryn) Rose
Katie (Kathryn) Rose Birtcher, 8, of Lone Tree, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Visitation for Katie will be held Monday, Oct. 29, from 3 to 7:30 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service, at the Lone Tree American Legion. Mass of the Resurrection for Katie will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Legion.The family asks that you please wear something pink in honor of Katie's favorite color. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Following the committal, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the American Legion.
Kathryn Rose Birtcher was born May 21, 2004, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. She was attending third grade at Lone Tree Elementary and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lone Tree. She was very active and involved in Girl Scouts, dance, tumbling, piano lessons, soccer, t-ball and volleyball. Katie also loved cheerleading and participated in several cheerleading camps. She loved laughing, singing, music, dancing,partying, swimming, dressing up with her hats, glitter and bling, spending time with friends and family and loved “anything pink but sometimes red, because that's my grandma's favorite color.” Katie was a huge fan of the Lone Tree Lions and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Katie will be deeply missed by the family she lived with and was cared for by, Brian and Joanne Havel; Amber and James Mullaly, Derek, Mariah and Luke Havel, Brock Amundson, Joey Birtcher, Andrew and Adrianna Howard, Nicholas Birtcher and Jessica Goodwin. She will be missed by all her grandparents, Richard and Sandy Havel, Pauline Keeler, Bradley Birtcher, Beverly Birtcher and Barbara Birtcher; and many special aunts, uncles and cousins.
Katie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Eugene and Rose Barnett, Bruce Keeler, Joseph Birtcher, Claude and Viola Havel, Donald and Lois Michel, Edward and Doris Hartl and Thomas and Lula Barnett.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in memory of Katie.
