Amundson, Beulah Dorothy
Beulah Dorothy Amundson, 89, of Monona, died of a short illness Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wis. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. The Rev. Scott Duffus will officiate. Burial will follow in the Monona Cemetery, Monona, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona, and one hour before the service Monday at the church.
Beulah was born on Jan. 26, 1923, to Albert and Emma (Leppert) Oelberg at the home farm in Franklin Township, Allamakee County. She attended the Little Red School House through the eighth grade graduation. She learned to work hard growing up as a farmer's daughter. Beulah married Goodwin Norman Amundson on April 8, 1949, in Waukon, Iowa. To this union five children were born.
Beulah was an inspector for Northern Engraving in Waukon, for 18 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Faith Circle and Doing Days, tying quilts. Beulah was a research patient with the cochlear implant study at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Beulah enjoyed watching the Hawkeye's, bird watching, baking and gardening.
Beulah is survived by her children, Albert (Mary) Amundson of Clermont, Norma (Kenneth) Starks of Cedar Rapids and Brenda (Byron) Moses of Monona; a sister, Sara Enyart of Postville; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six sisters-in-law, Verna Oelberg of Waukon, Arlene Oelberg of Elma, Gladys Lee Oelberg of Seneca, S.C., Marcy Amundson of Decorah, Thelma Overholt of La Crosse, Wis. and Elizabeth Oelberg of Virginia Beach, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; her daughter, Linda Amundson Schutte; her son, Gary (Anita) Amundson; her parents; her sister, Iva Marie Vance; and six brothers, Kermit, Andrew, Charles, George, Chris and Harva.
Memorials may be given in Beulah's memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa.
Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Monona, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
