Ehrmann, Richard
Richard Ehrmann, 85, of Frankfort, Ind., died at 9 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2010, at Wesley Manor, Frankfort. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Wesley Manor Chapel, Frankfort. Jake Fisher will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until time of service at the Manor. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery, Frankfort. Goodwin Funeral Home, Frankfort, Ind., is assisting the family with arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Perry Ehrmann of Minneapolis and Andy (Brenda) Ehrmann of Frankfort, Ind.; a brother, George (Ruth) Ehrmann of Amana; a sister, Henriette Schwarting of Middle Amana; and two grandchildren, Lauren and Daniel Ehrmann.
He was preceded in death by his wife; and three brothers, Alfred, Walter and Roy Ehrmann.
Born Feb. 10, 1925, in West Amana, Iowa, a son of Fritz and Ida Lina (Schonfelder) Ehrmann, he married Leona Zuber on June 15, 1947. She preceded him in death on Oct. 5, 2007. Mr. Ehrmann received a Bachelor of Science degree in organic chemistry and chemical engineering from Iowa State University. He was a chemical engineer at Cargill and was superintendent the of Northeast Minneapolis Cargill Plant. He worked for Cargill for 32 years, retiring in 1983. After retirement he was a self-employed custom cabinet maker. He lived in West Amana and Ames, Iowa, San Mateo, Calif., northeast Minneapolis, Minn., Bloomington, Minn., and in 2004, moved to Frankfort.
A veteran of the Army Air Corps, he served for two years and six months as Private First Class. Mr. Ehrmann was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Princeton, Minn. Other memberships include Princeton Golf Course, Amana Society, and St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Minn. He delivered Meals on Wheels in Princeton, Minn., and was an avid golfer and woodworker.
