Iowa State’s Burton earns Big 12 weekly honor
AMES - Iowa State junior Deonte Burton has been named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week following his performance in the Cyclones' win at Cincinnati last Tuesday.
Burton, a Milwaukee native, scored 12 points in 16 minutes against the Bearcats. The Marquette transfer hit 5-of-6 field goals, including his only 3-point attempt, and had an assist on a nifty bounce pass in transition that resulted in a layup for Monté Morris.
He also had one rebound while posting his 17th career double-figure scoring effort.
Burton is averaging 9.5 points.
