A trial for the man charged in killing 5-year-old Evelyn Miller has been continued to 2014 in Hamilton County District Court.
Casey Frederiksen, 34, is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse. He is accused in the 2005 girl's slaying. The trial, which was moved from Floyd to Hamilton on a change of venue, was set Oct. 28.
According to the Globe Gazette in Mason City, the trial was continued to May 6, 2014, to give attorneys more time to prepare for trial.
Frederiksen was the live-in boyfriend of the girl's mother, according to court documents.
Frederiksen remains in the Bremer County Jail.
