Letter: Sound education a priority for Paul Roesler

I support Paul Roesler for Iowa City school board.
He has the commitment, dedication, veracity and interest. He is persistent and has several years of attending Iowa City school board and committee meetings. He desires a sound education for all children and is committed to making our schools more diverse, including faculty, staff and administers. These are the values which Roesler has vocalized, written about and committed to that set him apart from the others.
He is aware of the problems and concerns our school district faces. He realizes minority concerns should be all of our concerns - recruitment and retention of minority faculty, staff, and administrators. Boundary issues and busing concerns will continue to be addressed by our school board, and the wealth of knowledge Roesler has from his attending many years of school board meetings gives him a fast-start edge.
If elected, he is interested in helping to develop a school system that is progressive in assuring everybody an equal education that is challenging and educationally sound.
Personally, I have served four years on the Iowa City Community School District Equity Advisory Committee and I see in him a man who puts the interest of our school district forefront.
