Jesse F. Parker Jr., 79, of Cedar Rapids was called home by our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. The family will greet friends and relatives from 10 to 11 a.m., with service to follow, on Saturday, Aug. 12, at Westdale Community Church. A private family burial for Jesse and his loved wife, Edythe, will be held at a later date.
Jesse is survived by his children, Faith (Larry) Pahl, Brenda (Perry) Thomsen, Kimberly Wicher (Tim), Jesse "Sonny" Parker III, Roy (Ann) Parker, Tane (Ted Simmons) Frederickson, Marcella (Lyn) Sisco-Howel and Pat (Cheryl) Whitney and companion Belle; grandchildren, Matt (Ashley) Frederickson, Cory Pahl, Miranda (Jason) Coad, Jared (Kristy) Blanchett, Chrissy (Alan Birky) Pahl, Laura (Mike) Petterson, Kendra Blanchett, Kayle (Chris) Claypoole and Mallory (Douglas Ashbacher) Parker; 17 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way; sisters, Joyce (David) Rathjen and Nancy Parker; and brothers-in-law, Gerald (JoAnn) Sisco and Earnest Topness.
Jesse was preceded in death by his wife, Edythe; infant daughter, Hope; and grandson, Steven Blanchett.
Jesse was born Jan. 27, 1938, to Cora and Jesse Parker Sr., in Iowa City. He worked at Iowa Manufacturing. He loved watching his kids race at Hawkeye Downs and frequenting casinos.
