Reader RSVPs to Grassley’s invitation

I would like to respond to U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley's Aug. 12 invitation in The Gazette to support the Republican nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Here's how my RSVP would read:
I cannot accept your invitation. In the first place, it smacks of insincerity. You failed to give President Barack Obama's nominee, Judge Merrick Garland, a hearing under bogus pretenses, playing the part of Mitch McConnell's foot soldier.
In the second place, all of the materials that you have requested of Judge Brett Kavanaugh have not yet been supplied. How can you properly 'advise and consent” without those materials?
Finally, what's the hurry? You were unconcerned with eight justices serving on the Court when Obama was in office. You can certainly afford to wait until after the 2018 election with Trump in office.
You continue to disappoint your constituents with your putting party before country.
