Hoffa, Gregory A.
Gregory A. Hoffa, 55, of Rochester, Minn., died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at his home following a lengthy battle with cancer. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes' Chapel in Rochester, Minn., where visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight and one hour before services on Saturday.
He is survived by his wife, Julianne of Rochester; one daughter, Andrea (Ron) Peck of Maple Grove, Minn.; one son, William (Terri) Hoffa of Rochester; one grandchild, Adelaide Peck; his mother, Marilyn C. Hoffa of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Michael (Annette) Hoffa of Lebanon, N.H., and David “Dan” Hoffa of Cedar Rapids; and one sister, Belinda (Kevin) Loux of Center Point.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Hoffa.
Gregory was born March 22, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa. He moved to Pomona, Calif., as a child and lived there for nine years before moving to Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids in 1972. He married Julianne Shontz on Aug. 28, 1976, in Marion. Following their marriage they lived in Ames while Greg finished college. Greg graduated from Iowa State University as a computer science major in 1977. On June 6, 1977, the couple moved to Rochester, where Greg began work for IBM. Greg worked for IBM for 32 years.
Before his illness, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, curling and spending time with his family.
