Halter, Gregory J. 'Greg'
Gregory J. “Greg” Halter, 57, of rural Iowa City, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 9, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial to follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery near Hills. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Greg was born Oct. 4, 1954, in Iowa City, the son of Clair and Madlyn (Owens) Halter. He has lived in this area most of his life. He graduated from Waterloo West High School. Greg has always been a man that worked with his hands, whether it was working construction, which he has done for many years, or running his shop, Atlantis Automotive.
His family includes his three sons, Justin, Cody and his wife, Kate, and Jesse; two grandchildren, Jonah and Tylyn, and a third on the way, Elias Gregory Halter; his mother, Madlyn Halter; three sisters, Janet Wedvick, Cheryl Gioimo and Pam Halter; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clair; brother, Terry; sister, Karen Kutcher; and brother-in-law, Richard Gioimo.
A memorial fund has been established in Greg's memory.
