New fire truck takes Eastern Iowa Airport to next level

It looks like something out of a science fiction movie -- and it is.
Firefighters at The Eastern Iowa Airport have been training on a new $650,000 firefighting and rescue vehicle from Rosenbauer America of Wyoming, Minn. The same model, with state-of-the-art fire suppression equipment, was used in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" showing in many Eastern Iowa theaters.
Sara Mau, operations director at The Eastern Iowa Airport, said the truck arrived right after Memorial Day from Minnesota after it was custom manufactured for the airport. The Cedar Rapids Airport Commission approved Rosenbauer America's bid in April 2010 and the truck took about a year to build and equip.
