FLORENCE "DARLENE" (HALE) PRUETT

Florence "Darlene" (Hale) Pruett, 91, of Cedar Rapids, completed her earthly duties on Jan. 9, 2019. Visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom on Sunday, Jan. 13, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Darlene's funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church on Monday, Jan. 14, and will be performed by Pastor Jay Jentink. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following the service.
Darlene was the eighth of nine children of David E. and Elizabeth M. (Mefferd) Hale, having lived her entire life in Cedar Rapids. For many years, Darlene owned and operated Eastern Iowa Hearing Aid Service where her special love was caring for children with hearing disabilities. She was an active and lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church where many new visitors found themselves invited to Sunday dinner at the Pruetts' house.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Pruett; and all eight of her siblings: LaVerna (Hensch), Walter, Gladys (Sprague), Richard, Grant, Dorothy (Van Note), Bill and Milton.
Darlene is survived by her son, John Michael (Jean Stuart); grandson, John Tyler (Miranda and his mother, Elaine); and great-grandson, Henry (and his mother, Amanda Edgington); and numerous nephews and nieces and their families.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
