DES MOINES — Monday's games at the girls' state basketball tournament at Wells Fargo Arena:
CLASS 1A QUARTERFINALS
No. 1 TURKEY VALLEY (24-0) vs. MOUNT AYR (18-7)
* Time: 10 a.m.
* Tournament history: Turkey Valley is making its state debut. Mount Ayr has qualified for the fifth time, its third in seven seasons. The Raiderettes were 1A runners-up in 2010.
* Coaches: Carletta Nymeyer and Dan Stepan serve as co-coaches for Turkey Valley. Nymeyer is 60-12 in three seasons; Stepan is 64-28 in four. Mount Ayr's Thad Streit is 148-65 in nine seasons.
* Top players: Shelby Reicks (5-10, jr.) is Turkey Valley's playmaker, averaging 15.8 points, 6.8 assists and 5.0 steals per game. Emily Busta (5-8, soph.) comes off the bench to add 10.9 points per game. Mount Ayr's Kelcie Shields (6-1, jr.) is the top scorer in the 1A field, netting 19.6 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Megan Warin (5-7, jr.) adds 13.2 ppg.
No. 5 LANSING KEE (22-2) vs. No. 4 BURLINGTON NOTRE DAME (23-1)
* Time: 11:45 a.m.
* Tournament history: Kee has qualified for the first time. Notre Dame is a fourth-time qualifier, all in the past four years. The Nikes were 1A champions in 2014.
* Coaches: Danny Love is in his fourth season at Kee and owns a record of 66-25. Jim Myers is 23-1 in one season at Notre Dame, 85-53 in six seasons overall.
* Top players: Kee is a balanced outfit, with six players averaging at least 6 points per game. Sophomores Ashley Schwartzhoff (5-9) and Kendra Cooper (5-10) lead the way at 11.8 and 10.8 points per game, respectively. Notre Dame has four double-digit scorers, led by Riley Kilbride (5-8, sr.) at 18.0 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Gabrielle Koelker (5-7, sr.) adds 13.7 ppg.
No. 3 SPRINGVILLE (23-1) vs. No. 6 KINGSLEY-PIERSON (21-2)
* Time: 1:30 p.m.
* Tournament history: Springville is a four-time qualifier. The Orioles were 1A champions in 2008, runners-up in 2009 and 2015. Kingsley-Pierson is making its third appearance, but its first since 1967.
* Coaches: Nate Sanderson owns an 82-56 record in six seasons at Springville, and is 151-152 in 14 years overall. Nicole Goodwin has amassed a 111-165 record in 13 years at Kingsley-Pierson.
* Top players: Sophomores Mikayla Nachazel (5-10) and Rylee Menster (5-4) lead the way for Springville with 14.7 and 14.0 points per game. Menster averages 5.3 steals per game. Megan Wagaman (5-8, sr.) adds 10.9 ppg. Addison Hirschman (6-2, soph.) paces Kingsley-Pierson at 13.9 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Allison Bailey (5-10, jr.) and Rachel Mercer (5-8, sr.) add 12.9 and 12.6 points per game, respectively.
CLASS 2A QUARTERFINALS
No. 6 WEST BRANCH (21-3) vs. No. 3 UNITY CHRISTIAN (22-1)
* Time: 8:30 p.m.
* Tournament history: West Branch is in Des Moines for the second time; its other appearance came way back in 1972. Unity Christian is making its sixth appearance, its third in a row. The Knights won the 2A title last year.
* Coaches: Jarod Tylee owns a five-year mark of 83-33 at West Branch. Jay Schuiteman has coached 13 years at Unity and has compiled a record of 198-103.
* Top players: Allyson Simpson (5-8, sr.) and Tatum Koenig (5-6, soph.) are the leaders for West Branch at 13.1 and 13.0 points per game, respectively. Haley Poula (6-0, sr.) is close to a double-double at 9.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Iowa State volleyball recruit Anna Kiel (6-0, sr.) averages 19.0 points and 11.2 rebounds per game for Unity. Chanda Zomermaand (5-7, sr.) adds 15.6 ppg for the defending champs.

* Class 1A quarterfinal: No. 2 Exira-EHK (23-0) vs. No. 7 Newell-Fonda (18-6), 3:15 p.m.
* Class 2A quarterfinal: No. 1 Western Christian (22-2) vs. No. 8 Central Decatur (23-1), 5 p.m.
* Class 2A quarterfinal: No. 4 Pekin (23-1) vs. No. 5 Okoboji (22-1), 6:45 p.m.
