Jeanne was born Oct. 18, 1926, in New York City, the first of five daughters to Henry and Anne Weckesser. Jeanne spent her youth in Newark, N.J., and worked in the Empire State Building where she met her husband, Joe. They were married 66 years before his passing in 2013. Jeanne graduated from Monmouth College in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science degree (math major). She and artist husband Joe moved to Cedar Rapids in 1976. As a computer analyst, Jeanne's career shared time with two local companies, Aegon and Rockwell Collins.
Jeanne is survived by her son, Mark L. Messner of Cedar Rapids; two sisters; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; her husband, Joe, in 2013; and daughter, Dianne J. Lytz, in 2017.
Through the years, Jeanne enjoyed dancing, tennis, golf, reading, gardening, playing bridge and volunteering time to local charities and medical facilities. As matriarch of our family, Jeanne will be dearly missed.
