Tinkle, Mildred Irene
Mildred Irene Tinkle, 87, of North Liberty, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City. A visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Lensing Funeral Home, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lensing Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
Mildred was born on March 18, 1925 in Laquey, Mo., to Emry and Dorothy Burkett. She married Richard Tinkle Feb. 25, 1942 in Washington, Iowa.
She had a lifelong love for gardening, and especially her tomato plants. Mildred was a very family-oriented person. She will be remembered and missed by all those she touched. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her an immense amount of joy.
Mildred is survived by three children, Frank Tinkle (Janice) of Virginia Beach, Va., Linda Healy (Ray) of Waterloo, Iowa, and Randy Tinkle (Toni) of North Liberty, Iowa; three sisters, Maymie Leurs of Washington, Iowa, Betty Veenker of Iowa City, Iowa, and Lucille Hamby of Greenville, S.C.; and a brother, Bill Burkett.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Gary; grandson, Gary Jr.; a sister, Elsie Gorsuch; and a brother, Eugene Burkett.
