Russell Johnson, 59, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a
brief illness. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where
friends may call after 2 p.m. The Rev Al Polito will officiate at the services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Surviving are two children, Travis (Chelsea) Johnson, Monticello, and Tiffany (Shawn) Nolan, Hopkinton; three grandchildren; two sisters, Marlene (Jerry) Nagel and Laurie Johnson, both of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Donald.
Russell Albert Johnson was born Aug. 4, 1954, in John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa, the son of Albert and Ruth Dirks Johnson. Russell attended Monticello Community Schools, where he graduated in 1973. Russell farmed on the Shover farm east of Monticello. He also worked as a plumber for Mike Kraus and at Willenborg Plumbing and Heating in Dubuque for a number of years.
Russell had a passion for Demo Derby. He participated in all the events in the area and later got both his son and daughter involved as well. He also love to hunt and fish.
