Barbara Eva Schick was born Feb. 9, 1940, to Michael and Martha (Diedrich) Schick in Stacyville, Iowa. She attended Mount Vernon High School, where she played the bass drum. She later earned her art degree from Kirkwood Community College, and especially liked doing pencil sketching and drawing. Barb enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and belonged to the Foster Grandparents Program through Cedar Rapids schools, where she was known as "Granny Barb." She was a free-spirited person, and was known to take road trips with no destination required, stopping to view overlooks and interesting historical landmarks. Later in life, she could be found knitting hats to donate, and listening to Life 101.9 or watching Iowa Public Television.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Barb's family would like to thank the staff at Heritage and Care Initiatives Hospice for their genuine kindness and care of mom.
Please share your support and memories with Barb's family on her tribute wall at www.stewartbaxter.com under obituaries.
