Vogt, Cyril M. 'Dan'
Cyril M. “Dan” Vogt, 96, of Waterloo, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Covenant Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 22, 1916, in Garnavillo, the son of George and Mary Meier Vogt. He married Diana M. Beasley on Nov. 9, 1940, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo. She died July 7, 2007.
Mr. Vogt served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He was owner and operator of Vogt Heating and Cooling until retirement. He was a lifelong member of the Cedar Falls Gun Club and an avid trap shooter.
Survivors include five daughters, Lynda (Merv) Sealock of Clutier, Judy (Dana) Anderson of Waterloo, Carol Vogt of Waterloo, Nancy (Jim) Falk of Clive and Pam (Frank) Gibson of Cedar Falls; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bernice (Wayne) Eisele of Waterloo and Clarissa (Les) Allison of Fort Collins, Colo.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Leo; six sisters, Rose Leppert, Loretta Webb, Florence Wilson, Verona Fuhr, Gertrude Gierlach and Mildred Eckert; and a great-grandson, Brett M. Sealock.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Waterloo, with entombment at Mount Olivet Mausoleum. Full military rites will be conducted at the church by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway in Waterloo, where there will be a 4 p.m. Legion of Mary rosary. Visitation also one hour before services Tuesday at the church.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.
