Miller, Daniel Newlin
Daniel Newlin Miller, 69, of Anamosa, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at his son's home in Oconomowoc, Wis., surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. Interment: 9 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Cemetery in Anamosa. Father Wayne Droessler will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. A Knights of Columbus rosary service will begin at 1:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A Scripture service will directly follow visitation Sunday evening at 7.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. Todd (Colleen) Miller of Oconomowoc, Wis., and Troy Miller of Vienna, Austria; two daughters, Tracy Miller of Hartland, Wis., and Tonya (Tim) Hickey of Lexington, Ky.; two sisters, Nancy (Don) McNabb of Ocoee, Fla., and Sally (Jay) Ward of Lake Oswego, Ore.; four brothers, Jim (Wendy) of Dubuque, Steve (Sue) of Carlise, Mike (Deb) of Anamosa and Terry of Viola; nine grandchildren, Sam (Nicole), Sophia, Clare, Jack, Lily, Jon, Andy and Adam; and three great-grandchildren. Sienna, Tristan and Gabriel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Donna (2010).
Dan was born Dec. 1, 1941, in Viola, Iowa, the son of Virgil and Dorothy (Newlin) Miller. Dan was a 1960 graduate of Anamosa High School. On June 1, 1963, Dan and Donna Huerter were united in marriage at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. Dan worked for Rockwell Collins for 37 years. After retiring he went to work driving a Jets bus in Jones County.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa.
Community was very important to Dan and Donna. They could be found helping at most town and church events or working in the yard. Most treasured by Dan was his family and the time he was given to spend with them.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
