Denlinger, Daniel 'Dan' James
Daniel “Dan” James Denlinger, 45, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at his home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Church, by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. A vigil service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may visit from 3 to 7 p.m. Friends may also visit after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Dan is survived by his daughter, Kirsten Van Cleve; parents, Harvey and Ellie Denlinger; three brothers, David, Mike (Vicky) and Matt (Nicole); and one sister, Kelly (Jeff) Allard, all of Cedar Rapids; 17 nieces and nephews; and four great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his brother, Jamie; sister, Teri; and his grandparents, Lyle and Maxine Denlinger and Mary and Lester Lyons.
Dan was born July 3, 1965, in Cedar Rapids, to Harvey and Eleanor (Lyons) Denlinger. He graduated in 1984 from Jefferson High School and attended Kirkwood Community College. He completed the Boilermakers Apprenticeship program and worked as a journeyman boilermaker as a member of Local 83.
Dan was a great guy who had a beautiful smile and a warm hug for family and friends. He enjoyed cooking and made the best pizza. He was generous with what he had, helping family members who were in need.
He will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial fund has been established in Daniel's name.
