Hennessey, Daniel 'Dan' Robert
Daniel "Dan" Robert Hennessey, 60, of Marion, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. The family will greet friends 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, with a Scripture Service beginning at 7 p.m. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his sister, Erin (Kevin) Noah; brothers, Joe and Jeff Hennessey; significant other, Valjean Berg; niece, Lesley; nephews, Jason and Justin. Also surviving are numerous other relatives and his two special buddies, Roman and Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Patric; and grandparents, Earl and Helen Power, and George and Elizabeth Hennessey.
Dan was born April 13, 1949, in Cedar Rapids to Robert G. and Rita M. (Power) Hennessey. He graduated from Regis High School in 1968, and attended Kirkwood College. Dan married Jane Hartgrave in 1980. He worked for Hennessey Brother's Construction, owned and operated Marion Small Engine Repair for several years, and also farmed in the Marion area for many years. Dan will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
