Dolson to lead another MVC power

IOWA CITY - Randy Dolson is leaving one MVC volleyball powerhouse for another.

Dolson, who has posted a 202-62 mark in seven seasons at Dubuque Hempstead, has been selected as the new coach at Iowa City West, pending board approval.

'Coach Dolson brings a wealth of knowledge and success in volleyball,” West Athletics Director Scott Kibby said Monday in a release.

'He has shown the ability to improve his teams and individuals as the season progresses. We anticipate that Coach Dolson will build upon the tremendous success that West volleyball has enjoyed over the last several years.”

Dolson has taken Hempstead to five state tournaments during his tenure. He previously was a head coach at the University of Dubuque, Drake University and Saydel High School.

He succeeds Kathy Bresnahan, who resigned after 22 seasons at West.

The Women of Troy are three years removed from back-to-back state championships.
