Trial in Cedar Rapids shooting set for September

CEDAR RAPIDS - A man charged with attempting to kill three of his next-door neighbors has pleaded not guilty and a trial is scheduled for Sept. 10 in Linn County District Court.

Joseph Pham, 42, of Cedar Rapids, is charged with three counts of attempted murder and one count of intimidation with a dangerous weapon. Pham remains in the Linn County Jail under a $100,000 cash-only bond, and his attorney has asked for an evaluation of his mental competency.

Pham is accused of shooting a handgun multiple times with the intent to kill Brian Wilson, 39, his daughter Jayde Wilson and Tracy Moses last month at Moses' home, 2928 29th Ave. SW. Brian Wilson was hit three times and seriously wounded in the torso.

Members of Pham's family say they have been subject to racial harassment for years, first by Moses' ex-husband when he lived in the home, and now by Wilson.
