Riggle, Betty Irene
Betty Irene Riggle, 74, passed away June 8, 2010, after a two-year battle with cancer. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 11, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, Texas.
Betty Riggle was born June 15, 1935, in Morse, Iowa, to John and Elizabeth Fisher. Betty attended grade school in Morse and graduated from City High School in Iowa City in 1953. On Sept. 11, 1955, Betty and Dale Riggle were married in North Liberty. The couple spent about four years in Germany while Dale was in the Army. After that they farmed in the North Liberty area until 1977 when they moved to Texas. Betty loved to raise a garden and flowers. She worked as a cosmetologist, real estate agent, and retired from Pantex travel department.
Survivors include her husband, Dale of Amarillo; a brother, John and wife Rosie of North Liberty; sister-in-law, Joyce of Reno, Nev.; five nieces; two nephews; and 11 grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and older brother.
The family suggests memorials be made to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.
