Show our beliefs through our actions

To the editor:
As a child of World War II parents I was taught and believe the values of the United States of America include kindness, generosity, peace, patience, justice, humanity, and protecting nature. Even as we struggle to obtain these values we are a Democracy with laws. As we see need for changes we adapt and become better.
I am a Christian who believes in a living God and has felt the comforting Holy Spirit. I believe scripture is not stagnant and can provide guidance if we listen. I believe my church and its sacraments help me remember the grace and compassion of Jesus Christ who loved others, not just those exactly like him.
I believe we should have a purpose in life to help others, the earth and our neighbors. I believe as we know our neighbors we learn similarities and can acknowledge our differences.
We may disagree on many things but hatred of other cultures and religions should not be our mantra.
What are your beliefs and how do you show it? What have you done for others lately?
