James Edward Meiborg Jr. (Jim) was born Oct. 24, 1953, to James and Helen (Mraz) Meiborg in Columbia, Mo. Jim married Kathy Achenbach on Oct. 2, 1971, in North English, Iowa. He graduated from English Valleys High School in 1972 and continued his education, while playing football at Coe College in Cedar Rapids. He graduated in 1977 and became a teacher and a coach until 1982. Jim then worked in finance for several years. He finished his career at Rockwell Collins before retiring in July 2017. Jim also enjoyed driving a school bus for College Community schools for many years.
Jim was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved the Iowa State Cyclones. He enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors with his family and beloved dog, Tinsley. Visiting state parks became a hobby. He cherished time with his family, including watching his sons' and grandchildren's sporting events. Jim took great joy playing with his grandchildren: throwing batting practice, rebounding and playing football. He was their biggest fan.
