JoAnn Walters, 74, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness.
A celebration of JoAnn's life will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Woodpecker Lodge in Pinicon Ridge Park, Central City. Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, has been entrusted with JoAnn's care.
Memorials may be made to the Animal Welfare Foundation in Monticello.

Surviving are her husband, Travis; six children, Brenda (Louis) Cavros of Adel, Bret (Nicole) Walters of Cedar Rapids, Lynn Walters of Chambersburg, Pa., Crystal Walters of Fort Lupton, Colo., Lance (Dana) Walters of Alaska and Christina Walters of Colfax; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet (Robert) Campbel; three sisters-in-law, JoAnn McRoberts, Mary Cozad and Elaine McRoberts; and a brother-in-law, Robert Warren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Vernon; a grandson, Jason Walters; two brothers and a sister.
JoAnn Rae McRoberts was born April 14, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Dale and Wilma (Gettle) McRoberts. JoAnn graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School. She was employed at a Marion veterinary clinic and the Anamosa Hospital. She married Travis Walters on Feb. 4, 1967, in Kahoka, Mo.
JoAnn had a passion for conservation and took several classes on the subject at Kirkwood. She was a volunteer for the Linn County Conservation Commission for many years. She would often work at the Nature Center in Pinicon Ridge Park.
JoAnn was part of the Jones County Genealogical Society and also belonged to Eastern Star. She loved the time she spent with family and friends, especially if it was outdoors, hiking or traveling around Iowa with Travis.
