Letter: Vernon is strong advocate for CR

In 2016, Monica Vernon headed up our caucus at Washington High School for selection of a Democratic Party candidate.

I was so impressed with her handling of the caucus and the fairness she gave to the meeting even with those not for her candidate and those more strident in their choice of another candidate, that it stuck with me this person would be a tremendous leader.

She listens and is fair. She is a strong advocate for Cedar Rapids and where Cedar Rapids needs to grow. She has an executive leadership background in the private sector and on the council.

She has demonstrated her devotion to this city and to making the city better. She is more responsive to basic and aesthetic needs of the city as well as the city being a place where families can thrive and grow.

I support her for mayor.
