Lois Starry, 95, of Algona, formerly of Cental City, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at the Algona
Manor Care Center. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Mount Clark Cemetery in Central City.
Lois Elaine Starry was born July 6, 1918, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Ethel (Millburn) Young. She grew up in the Cedar Rapids area. On Nov. 3, 1937, Lois was united in marriage to Paul Starry in Anamosa. After their marriage they lived in the Cedar Rapids area before later in life settling in Central City. Lois later moved to Algona to be near her daughter.
Lois enjoyed spending time with her family, as well as playing cards, gardening, baking and crocheting.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathy and husband Dave Rike, Lynn Starry and wife Linda, Terry Starry and wife Mary, David Ray Starry and wife Mary, Kelly Starry and Shirley and husband Dave Dunham; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bette Brimer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Starry; a daughter, Sharon; a brother, Bruce Young; a sister-in-law, Arlene Casner; and a brother-in-law, Leon Brimer.
Arrangements were handled by Oakcrest Funeral Services of Algona.
