Lois Mae Herr, 95, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Living Center West. There will be no visitation or services. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Lois was born in Anamosa, Iowa, on Nov. 21, 1919, to Carlos and Ottie Hastings Herr. She attended schools in Detroit, Mich., and in Anamosa, graduating from Anamosa High School in 1937.
She was formerly employed in the superintendent's office at Anamosa High School, Graham's, Brady's and the Jones County Social Welfare office, all in Anamosa. She also was a legal secretary for 40 years in Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clifford and Kenneth; a sister, Mildred; and a special cousin, Virginia Sparshatt.
Lois is survived by her cousin, Carol Lee (Frank) Waindle of Atlanta, Ga., and their children, Jennifer and Alex; and loving and special friends, Ron and Judy Steichen of Marion.
Lois enjoyed traveling, working in the yard, craftwork and doing crossword puzzles.
A special thank-you goes to Ron and Judy Steichen for caring for Lois and also a big thanks to Living Center West, where Lois was cared for in a big way.
