McKinley, George Gillman 'Mo'
George Gillman “Mo” McKinley, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Living Center West. Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where the family will greet friends one hour before the service. Private Burial: Garrison Cemetery, Garrison.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; brother, Dr. Dean (Marvel) McKinley of Alto, N.M.; stepdaughter, Shelley Barnes of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and many nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Teri and Mary Lynn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Virginia; and brother, William.
George was born Nov. 15, 1917, the son of John G. C. “Carl” and Mary (Hardinger) McKinley, in Brandon, Iowa. He served in the United States Army. George worked as a superintendent of sheet metal at Rockwell Collins, retiring after 40 years of service.
George was a member of the El Kahir Shrine, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2272 and the Cedar Rapids Bowling Hall of Fame.
The family would like to thank Living Center West and Mercy Medical Center Dialysis, where he made many friends.
